Quality and dependable.
The Winix 5520 deserves my rare 5-star rating. Everything about this is exactly what I expect. It just works. I set it up next to my 3D printer, and the difference in air quality is noticeable.PROS* It works – air is cleaned efficiently.* Aesthetically pleasing.* It is very quiet.* Setup was flawless and easy.* The unit’s auto feature is accurate and trustworthy.* The replacement filters are a fair price, work well and can be trusted.CONS* The app used to control devices is only available for iOS and Android. Windows, Fire Tables, etc. are not available. In summary, I can personally recommend this product.

Very impressive Air Purifier
We are very impressed so far with the Winix Air Purifier. It is very quiet and does a phenomenal job of removing pet odors and reducing pet dander. We are very surprised how well the auto feature works. It turns on and selects the appropriate fan settings. We have a dog with long hair and live in the Pacific Northwest. Now that the rains have come, he gets wet and the house starts to smell like wet dog. This air purifier really does a great job of neutralizing that odor.

Works well with smoke
Works extremely well and it’s not loud at all. I used to live with 2 smokers and having the purifier next to the closet kept my clothes smelling fresh. I had it running 24/7. It was easy to set up as well.

Great Filter, Average Programming
I wish I could give this 5 stars. The filter is very well made. It makes a noticeable improvement in air quality. The fan is the right combination of quiet and powerful. I enjoy the real-time air quality monitoring. That said, the automatic programming needs work. The unit uses a light sensor to automatically switch to Sleep Mode if the room is dark enough. In sleep mode, the fan runs on a super low setting, which is nice for actual sleep but rather irritating during the middle of the day. God forbid I want to run the filter with the curtains closed.Long story short, if I select Automatic Mode, I would prefer if the unit stayed on that setting. The only thing this unit needs is a software update that allows me to defeat the light sensor.Total First- World complaints. All things considered, I would buy this unit again.

Great at removing odors and dust.
Replaced my Miko in the kitchen with this to handle kitchen odors and it works so well, I bought another one that replaces a Levoit for my bedroom. It is light weight for its size and has a sleek appearance. It is easy to set up and operate. It has a quiet sleep mode which runs on low with no lights. When in the auto mode, a red light is displayed and the fan kicks on when it detects perfume or strong odors and kicks off once it no longer detects it. I have also noticed a lot less dust in the kitchen area. Features a washable pre filter, a replaceable carbon and HEPA filters. I like this better than the Miko IbukiL and the Levoit Core 300s; although these are also nice air purifiers they don’t perform as well as the Winix 5510.

Great for allergies!
Love this air purifier! It is super quiet. Light weight enough to move t different areas of the house. Easy to place out of site if needed. It functions just as described. Good size for our family room. Have not had any issues with the filter.

Best Investment We Made!
If you are here, I’d be willing to take a bet that you did your research and saw this air purifier recommended across the internet. I’m here to say, the research you did led you to the right place.TL;DR:Amazing, cut down on airborne pet hair, but a bit loud (when running on high) and may need multiple for a living area. Great value for your money. 5/5 ⭐️UPSIDES:This air purifier is simply amazing. Me and my wife purchased this due to our two dogs (Husky mix and a Shiba Inu) constantly shedding to the point you could visibly see hair floating through the air. While running one of these in our living room (which exceeds the 360 sq. ft. rating of the purifier) is not the end-all solution to the shedding, it has drastically increased the air quality, and after just 8 hours of running, it decreased amount of hair floating around. I had my doubts as air purifiers don’t particularly work to eliminate pet hair, but this puts in the work to bring it back to a manageable amount. We have identified “hot spots” of where the dog hair tends to conglomerate due to fans and the A/C, and decided to place it in one of those areas. Within a half hour, the air quality was NOTICEABLY cleaner and easier to breathe. Me and my wife would walk in the area of the fan, then go to another room and physically feel the difference in air quality.Around the 8 hour mark I opened the front face and removed a significant amount of pet hair that had been built up on the mesh screen. If you plan on using these to cut down on pet hair, I personally believe it would be beneficial to identify those areas where the hair tends to build up to position your air purifiers. I’m not saying that this has eliminated or even cut down on the amount we have to vacuum and sweep, but it has helped with the floating dust and hair that accumulates in the air.DOWNSIDES:Noise. (Potentially)So if you’re expecting this to be super quiet and unnoticeable, I’m sorry to say this may not be it if you’re running this on turbo. If you only need to run this on a low to high settings to help remove small amounts of particulates from the air, it will be quiet. However, for our pet hair removal needs, we keep it on Turbo, leaving it sound a little louder than any average fan you get from the store. If you are okay with a bit of white noise running in the background, you will be fine. The noise is much quieter (borderline non-existent) when running on sleep mode to high fan, which could be enough based on your needs, but is not enough for us.Rated Area. (Potentially)This fan is rated for a room 360 sq. ft. While that is large enough for most bedrooms, it may not be enough to satisfy a living area, especially if your house is open concept. I would recommend considering investing in two fans for a larger room (but keep in mind how loud the fan is). If you think you need multiple for a single room, consider investing in one to start so you can hear how loud it is, if you like it and want another for a second room and a second for the same room, only get one more and see how well you can manage the noise of two running at the same time in the same room.Air Quality Light:The purifier has a built in light indicator to indicate air quality which is nice, but not super informative, as there is no guide to tell you what it’s measuring or what the measurements are… honestly it could just be a light on a timer schedule for all we know, as the manual only says it indicates air quality in “red (poor), Amber (fair), and Blue (good)”VALUE:If you can continue to find this around $150 dollars (how much I was able to purchase it for), the value for the amount you’re spending is perfect.I will try to update this review when we purchase a second system and have it running in the same room as the first.

Nowhere in the product description does it say that this is a 120V product which most of the world does not use. I plugged it in uae and the unit got busted. Waste of hard earned money 845 dhs and wait time. Worse still no warranty in the UAE. Worldwide buyers be warned and stay AWAY from useless products like this.

Ein super Lüfter , vor allem leise.Kam gut verpackt an, war schnell angeschlossen und betriebsbereit.Reinigt die Luft wirklich … weder Katze noch Zigaretten Geruch sind ein Problem für ihn.In Schwarz mal was anderes … und vorallem man bekommt Ersatzfilter in Deutschland.

The seller is lying; this is advertised to come with a remote control, which is why I chose it, and there is no remote control included, and it cannot be connected to an app. BEWARE – Do not recommend buying this if you require remote operation.

I’m very happy with this air purifier. I have a cat and it visibly picks up a lot of hair, that must just be floating around in the air; hair that would normally go unnoticed.I started using a Levoit LV-PUR 131 machine a couple of years ago to remove the smell of vaped marijuana flower (prescribed medical). I love the smell myself, but I know how many don’t, and I’m a considerate neighbour.I’ve had the Winix for 3 months now, and it is far superior to the Levoit model, which has now been demoted to hallway duties.I like the washable pre-filter, although I’ve not actually had to wash it yet. I find that a good going over with a vacuum once a week, to remove all the large debris, is enough. I vacuum the charcoal filter too.As I’ve said, my primary reason for using an air purifier was never to remove dust but this is a big bonus, and there is visibly less dust now.The sensor detects VOCs much better than smoke, and for anyone using it for smoke or weed should be aware of this. I just keep it on setting three most of the time, which works very well for cigarette smoke and marijuana vape. Setting 3 on the Winix is quieter than setting 1 on the Levoit. Setting 3 is my “go to” setting. It’s really not noisy at all. For smoke, leaving it on “auto” doesn’t work, but manually setting it to 3 does. The same is true of marijuana flower vape. The turbo mode (4th speed) is VERY loud but unnecessary for normal use. I occasionally give it a blast, just to clear the air quickly, and it’s very effective for this. I have a large living room, and 10 minutes on turbo will just clear anything quickly. The one niggle I have is that when I want to leave it on, as I retire to bed, I have a practical choice of setting 3 for 4 hours, or turbo for an hour – the timer does 1, 4 or 8 hours. It would be more useful for my purposes, if I could choose 1, 2, and 4 hours. Ideally, I’d like to be able to leave it on setting 3 for 2 hours, but that’s not possible.I leave the Plasmawave mode on because on or off, I don’t notice any difference. People have talked about it making occasional snapping noises, but I’ve never heard anything.Unbranded filter sets are about 20 quid, so in practice, I change them every two months. Winix say the charcoal filter will last for a lot longer as it is washable, but TBH washing and drying is too much faff for me.Lastly… it LOOKS better than the Levoit, which has turned yellow from UV light, like many white/off-white plastics.I’m very happy with this Winix machine. From research and experience, I now think that it’s probably the best in the UK home market, for smoke and vape.[Update: Aug 25]I’m still very happy with the performance. I’ve discovered that because I’ve been smoking rollies (tobacco) near the unit, a sticky film develops on the pre-filter. In fact, the surrounding black plastic is also sticky. I think it’s nicotine. Anyway, I just laid the filter down in the bath, and went gently over it with some water and a little washing up liquid. This did the trick. Good as new.Another trick I’ve found is that the carbon filter is exactly half the depth of the Hepa filter, so it is possible to fit three carbon filters, and no Hepa filter. Of course, from the POV of smoke and vape removal, this is not, as one might think, three times the effectiveness, but rather 197% the smoke-reducing power (according to ChatGPT) – something to do with layer passing. That’s still almost twice as effective. It doesn’t get the fine dust through, that’s just blown back into the room. I use this air purifier in the room where I smoke and vape. Just around the corner, in my hallway, I have another Winix with a Hepa filter. That one gets the dust.
